I had been reading about King Tut, and how they thought he might have fallen from a chariot, which led to his death. Or not. And don’t forget that haunting face and body reconstruction of what he might have looked like.

I started on a little clay bust, built with slabs.
After working awhile, I dropped it.
All of it. Upside down. On concrete.
I didn’t change much. I just left Tut for firing as we went on off vacation.
Months went by before I remembered him. And a few more months before he told me what to do with him. (No concept, I hear someone saying.) Yesterday I put a black underglaze on Tut and then scrubbed him down.
I'm sorry you were smashed, Tut.
Or not.
Let's see how you work out.
